The Energy Research Institute of PRC National Development and Research Commission and the Institute for 21st Century Energy of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are collaborating on a conference examining common energy challenges—and opportunities—in the 21st Century. High-level officials and energy experts from China and the United States will engage participants in discussions on global energy security, the environment and climate change, and sharing technology that promotes energy efficiency.

The goal is to initiate a high-level dialogue and an exchange of ideas on the key issues in energy development in the PRC, United States, and other major energy-consuming countries. By addressing these issues collaboratively, identifying shared interests, and seeking common solutions, the PRC and United States can provide leadership in formulating energy policies in the best interest of the global community.

About the Hosts

Institute for 21st Century Energy of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce

The Institute for 21st Century Energy, in affiliation with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, was created to lead the necessary effort to educate the public on America's energy needs and help create forward-looking policies to increase and diversify the nation's supply of fuel and power from all sources.

We are non-partisan and an advocate for what is best for our nation. Energy is a vital national security issue and, therefore, we must put our nation's interests first and foremost. The Institute is committed to working with all energy-related organizations, including environmental groups, to achieve a broad-based consensus on a national energy policy.

In the coming year, we will conduct policy, economic, and public opinion research surrounding a broad range of energy questions. We will hold a series of meetings, hearings, fact-finding missions, and conferences in cities around the United States and overseas. Please learn more about our activities by visiting our website.

The Energy Research Institute of PRC National Development and Research Commission

The Energy Research Institute (hereafter, ERI) of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) was established in 1980. It is a national research organization conducting comprehensive studies on China's energy issues. Since its establishment, it has been affiliated with the former State Commission and the former State Economy Commission. Throughout, it was guided by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in many aspects of its research work. In 1988, ERI was put under the administration of the now former State Planning Commission. Further reforms in 2003 made ERI part of the National Development and Reform Commission. The ERI is also one of 7 research institutes administrated by the Academy of Macro-economic Research (AMR) of the NDRC.
